Chemistry, Hereford Street
The university maintains a vibrant presence in the central city. Its busy events programme features concerts, lectures, seminars and museum tours. It also hosts national and international experts and creates opportunities for students to work alongside these visitors and connect with The Arts Centre and wider Christchurch community.
The Chemistry building is a place of teaching and learning for Classics and Music students. It features a beautiful recital room, teaching spaces, staff offices and the Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities, which is the home of the James Logie Memorial Collection.
The University of Canterbury moved its School of Music and Department of Classics into the university’s old home at The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora and the central city in 2017.
